The 2027 ACI-LAC/World Annual General Assembly, Conference and Exhibition (WAGA) will be held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. The announcement came as the 2026 event wrapped up in Lima, Peru.

Addressing Pressing Challenges

The 2026 event was attended by more than 600 senior executives from across the aviation industry. Featuring over 50 speakers across 20 sessions, the conference aimed to address the most pressing challenges the sector is facing, including the need to increase airport capacity amid increasing passenger traffic. The resilience of the industry was also commended, as projections show passenger traffic is expected to double to 19.8 billion by 2047, despite global economic concerns.

Speaking of the 2026 event, ACI World Director General Justin Erbacci said:

“What stood out in Lima was how aligned our industry is. Airport leaders from every region left this week with a shared understanding of what the next decade demands: more capacity, the right conditions to facilitate investment and a passenger experience centred on people. Just as important, they left determined to deliver on it together. I thank Lima Airport and ACI-LAC for hosting an outstanding edition. We look forward to continuing these conversations in Egypt next year, another major gateway that showcases the power of connectivity.”

Co-organised by ACI Africa

The 2027 event is set to be hosted by the Egyptian Holding Company for Airports and Air Navigation (EHCAAN), and is to be co-organised by ACI Africa.

ACI Africa Secretary General Ali Tounsi said:

“WAGA 2027 will once again bring the global airport community to Africa, reflecting the continent’s growing importance in shaping the future of aviation. Hosted in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, it will be an opportunity to showcase the progress and ambition of African airports, forge stronger partnerships and advance connectivity across our continent. Egypt and Africa are ready to welcome the world.”

Echoing these sentiments, EHCAAN Chairman Eng. Aiman Arab commented:

“We are honoured to welcome the global airport community to Egypt for WAGA 2027. We extend our sincere appreciation to our colleagues in Peru for their outstanding hospitality and for bringing the industry together for a successful 2026 edition. As we prepare to host WAGA next year, we look forward to building on that momentum and creating new opportunities for dialogue, collaboration and knowledge exchange. We are proud that Egypt will provide the setting for these important conversations, while also highlighting the growing contribution of Africa to the global airport community.”

The 2027 ACI Africa/World Annual General Assembly, Conference and Exhibition will take place in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt between Oct. 16 and 22. Details of the itinerary and how to register will be announced next year.
