Eve Air Mobility (Eve) has secured private funding from the United States’ Export-Import Bank (EXIM Bank) and the Private Export Funding Corporation (PEFCO). The combined guaranteed loan amount of up to $15 million will be used to provide engineering services and electrical equipment, e.g. batteries, for Eve’s electric Vehicle Take-Off and Landing program (eVTOL) during its developmental period.

What Is In The Agreement?

Eve Air Mobility’s agreement with EXIM Bank and PEFCO is for funding for the suppliers that are developing their eVTOL aircraft. Eve is working closely with British company BAE Systems and Brazilian company Embraer as part of a joint aerospace operation. BAE Systems is supplying the main energy power sources (batteries), and Embraer is contributing its propulsion technology. DUC Hélices Propellers will provide the rotor and propeller blades used in the construction of the eVTOL aircraft prototypes. Eduardo Couto, Eve’s chief financial officer, spoke highly about the agreement and the overall project in a statement:

“This agreement underscores EXIM Bank’s confidence in Eve’s business model and the strong future of urban air mobility. It will empower Eve’s U.S. supply chain by providing critical financial flexibility, accelerating the adoption of sustainable air travel globally.”

Couto also said: “We are incredibly proud to partner with EXIM Bank to offer this innovative financing solution…”

What is eVTOL?

Eve’s eVTOL aircraft is designed to use multi-rotor and thrust vectoring technology to enable an electrically powered and vertically piloted aircraft capable of completing regular short-haul transport cycles per year, more than a thousand, according to Eve’s technical specifications. The eVTOL specifications also mention carrying four passengers and one pilot. The aircraft (similar in size to the standard consumer industrial drone) is also planned to be both virtually silent and environmentally friendly, designed to eliminate 90% of noise pollution and up to 47% of CO2 emissions compared to petrol vehicles.

Eve plans to make the aircraft accessible to consumers by taking their first big step to secure their place in the larger Urban Air Mobility (UAM) ecosystem by providing safe transport to passengers and cargo with frequent testing of their prototype eVTOL aircraft. The first consumer deliveries for the eVTOL aircraft are expected around the start of 2028.
