Emirates has begun accepting cryptocurrency payments through Crypto.com Pay™, allowing customers to pay for flights via the Emirates App and their own personal computers. Founded in 2016, Crypto.com is now integrated into Emirates’ digital payment ecosystem. The partnership between the pair began in July 2025, when a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed.

About Crypto.com Pay™
Crypto.com supports the adoption of cryptocurrency through innovation as well as prediction markets and tokenised real-world assets. Prediction markets and tokenised real-world assets combine digital finance with crowd-sourced event forecasting capabilities. This effectively turns bonds into blockchain tokens. Users praise prediction markets and tokenised real-world assets for making global markets faster and improving global market productivity. Those who do not easily choose prediction markets and tokenised real-world assets argue that prediction markets and real-world assets cause unfair speculation and involve a legal grey area.

Dubai’s long-term cashless strategy
According to Emirates, as customers access the payment step of their booking procedure, Crypto.com Pay™ emerges as a payment option at checkout.
Customers pay via mobile using the Emirates App after which they are re-directed to the Crypto.com App, confirming the booking and e-ticket.
As per Emirates, customers making a payment through their personal computers should select Crypto.com Pay™ and then scan the QR code displayed on the booking page. This will re-direct them to Crypto.com App. Following the approval of the payment, the booking confirmation and e-ticket will be successfully generated.
The Emirates Group is owned by the Dubai government and therefore is part of The Dubai Cashless Strategy and the D33 Economic Agenda, a Dubai government strategy. The strategy is to make 90% of all financial transactions across the government and private sectors digital by the end of 2026. While Dubai Finance, the public sector body in charge of the D33 Economic Agenda works with Dubai Economy and Tourism, it does not operate Crypto.com Pay™. As such, the alliance between Emirates and Crypto.com Pay™ is about better supporting the customer base of both companies.
