Embraer’s early 2026 results and full 2025 results show that the Brazilian-based aviation company is on an upward trajectory. The company reported a record-high backlog and is indicating strong demand and performance in the aviation market.

Backlog Data Report 2026

Embraer announced on Friday, July 24, that it has observed ongoing growth throughout the first two quarters of 2026. The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer reported that its firm order backlog reached a record $34.5 billion at the end of the second quarter of 2026, a 16% increase from a year earlier.

The commercial aircraft backlog measures the gap between orders and deliveries, including all aircraft ordered but not yet handed over to airlines. A key indicator of demand, supply capacity, and potential delivery delays, backlog is a critical metric for understanding the conditions, obstacles, and potential of the global aviation industry.

In the April-June quarter, the company’s commercial aviation backlog stood at $15.1 billion, up 15%. Meanwhile, executive ‌aviation backlog rose 5%, reaching $7.8 billion. The remaining backlog reported emerged from Embraer’s defence unit, at $6.1 billion, and its services and support business, at $5.5 billion. Overall, Embraer’s backlog has exhibited consistent growth.
This is supported by Embraer reporting earlier this month the delivery of 65 aircraft in the second quarter, an increase of around 7%. This includes a book-to-bill rate of almost three new aircraft orders per sale. The book-to-bill ratio is a metric used to evaluate demand by comparing the value of new orders received (“book”) to the value of orders shipped and billed (“bill”) over a specific period, in this case, a quarter. A book-to-bill ratio above one means that more orders were received than filled, and with a current ratio of three, Embraer indicates strong demand.

Subcategory rows include 'Commercial Aviation', 'Executive Aviation', 'Services & Support', 'Defence & Security', and 'Total'. The title box is dark blue, and the next row down and the bottom row are light blue. The rest of the table background is blue. All of the writing is black.

Comparing Performance to Previous Years

This performance shows consistent growth compared with last year and the year before. In 1Q24, Embraer’s backlog reached the highest level over the past 7 years, and deliveries increased by 67%. Following this, in 2025, Embraer’s commercial aviation reported a 37% increase in backlog compared to 3Q24, setting a new 9-year record at the time.

Embraer achieved a backlog of more than $26 billion by the end of 4Q24, and the company’s firm-order backlog exceeded $31 billion in 2025. This set a record high, with a more than 20% year-on-year increase and a 16% quarter-on-quarter increase. From 2025 to the first half of 2026, the backlog increased by 10.22%, a modest growth rate considering previous milestones but a positive one regardless, setting 2026 on a positive path for the company.

Accompanying this achievement, the backlog value for the company’s E175 and E2 product range increased by a massive 42% year-on-year. The plane manufacturer also exceeded prior performance in commercial deliveries last year, achieving a total of 78 commercial aircraft deliveries, compared to 73 in 2024. With current deliveries already at 65, the company is already well on its way to exceeding this in 2025.

The Services & Support department sustained a record-high backlog of $4.9 billion, up 40% year-over-year in 2025. Current backlog levels for services and support stand at $5.5 billion, a 12% increase.

Taken together, this data paints a compelling picture suggesting that Embraer is gaining traction, slowly approaching the two main aviation manufacturers, Airbus and Boeing, in demand and performance within the global aviation market.
