Embraer has announced new C-390 Millennium training capabilities for Sweden and Austria, expanding the support infrastructure available to the European operators of its military transport aircraft.
The announcement was made at the Farnborough International Airshow on Monday, July 20, 2026. Sweden will receive a comprehensive training package that includes a Level D Full Flight Simulator (FFS), a Cargo Handling Station Trainer (CHST) and a Computer-Based Training (CBT) solution. Austria will receive a CBT solution designed to support theoretical instruction and crew qualification.
Sweden to receive simulator and cargo training systems
The Swedish Air Force’s training package will include a Full Flight Simulator designed to support pilot training across normal, abnormal and emergency flight conditions.
The simulator will also support military mission scenarios and feature more than 350 malfunctions for training purposes. According to Embraer, the system is designed to provide a highly immersive training environment while remaining straightforward to operate and support.
Sweden will also receive a Cargo Handling Station Trainer developed in partnership with Rheinmetall. The system is designed to support loadmaster training and cargo operations, using advanced visualisation technology to recreate the aircraft’s cargo compartment and external environment.
The trainer will allow personnel to prepare for and practise cargo-related procedures and mission scenarios in a simulated environment.
Computer-based training to support crews and maintenance personnel
Both Sweden and Austria will receive Computer-Based Training solutions. The systems will provide theoretical instruction for pilots, loadmasters, additional crew members and maintenance personnel.
The training platform will use a Learning Management System compatible with SCORM standards, allowing training content to be delivered flexibly across different areas of C-390 Millennium operations.
The systems are intended to support the training of pilots, loadmasters, other crew members and maintenance personnel while helping both air forces maintain operational readiness across their C-390 fleets.

The new training systems will give Sweden and Austria access to a broader range of C-390 Millennium training capabilities, covering flight operations, cargo handling, theoretical instruction and maintenance.
As more European air forces introduce the C-390 Millennium into service, shared training systems and commonality could become increasingly important to supporting the aircraft’s growing international operator base.
