The first flight on easyJet’s new route from Bristol Airport to Verona took off on Saturday 6 December, now offering a direct route from the South West of England to the Northern Italian city famous for being the setting of Shakespeare’s classic, Romeo and Juliet.

Medieval Italy Now Closer than Ever

The route to Verona was met with celebration by easyJet and its customers alike. The route began on 6 December and will operate twice a week, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, throughout the month of December for the Christmas period. For the rest of winter, the service will operate once a week on Saturdays.

Verona has so much to offer for all kinds of travellers. Its Arena, a Roman ampitheatre, is one of the best preserved outside of Rome and often hosts grand operas in the summer.

During December, though, it is home to the International Christmas Crib Exhibition, which brings together artists from all over the world to create intricately crafted Christmas scenes. In the nearby Piazza dei Signori, visitors can also enjoy a traditional Christmas market with ice skating rinks.

Another major attraction is the Castelvecchio Museum, a collection of medieval and renaissance art displayed in Verona’s very own medieval castle. The Northern Italian city also has transport links to other major cities such as Venice and Bologna.

Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, said the following about the new route:

“We are delighted to have launched the first flights on our new winter route from Bristol Airport to Verona with extra capacity this month to provide our customers in the southwest with a direct connection to enjoy the city’s festivities and Christmas markets.

We continue to grow and invest in Bristol and are committed to providing our customers in the South West with even more choice, connectivity, and great value fares for our business and leisure travellers alike.”

Bristol Gears Up for Summer 2026

EasyJet has also announced further growth at Bristol Airport, adding an Airbus A320 Neo aircraft to its fleet from Summer 2026, allowing customers to travel on more routes that are further away. In fact, easyJet will be starting new routes to Bari, Cape Verde, Reus, Seville and Thessaloniki from Bristol next summer, pushing the total number of routes from Bristol to 83.

Rupert Lawrie, Commercial Director at Bristol Airport, said:

“We are thrilled to see easyJet begin operating this new winter service to Verona from Bristol Airport. Famous for its rich history and breathtaking architecture, Verona offers the perfect blend of culture and charm for a memorable winter break.

As we continue to expand our destination offering, this is another great milestone in delivering more choice. And next year we’re excited to be welcoming the 20th aircraft. It’s especially good news as it’s another Airbus A320 Neo, which is quieter and more fuel efficient, showing a strong desire to help achieve sustainable air travel in the future.”

Seats are available to book via easyJet.com and via the easyJet mobile app with fares from £18.99 one way.
