There has been a surge in data showing the Top 5 airports and airlines in February 2026. Both sets of figures represent the air traffic of the most frequented airports and airlines over the last 30 days according to EUROCONTROL, a pan-European civil-military organisation that campaigns for environmentally conscious and safe aviation travel practices.

Top 5 Airports

The data shows that Istanbul’s airline traffic ranked highest with nearly 1,500 flights while Madrid Barajas (MAD) was the lowest scoring, clocking in at 1,156, slightly below Amsterdam (AMS) at 1,160 flights. EUROCONTROL data review claims that Madrid experienced low visibility between Jan. 26 and Feb. 1.

London Heathrow (LHR) came second in the position at nearly 1,300 flights which places it slightly above Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) in Paris, which achieved 1,200 flights since February 2026.

Top 5 Airlines

As for the data in this section Ryanair took the top spot in the ranking with just over 2000 flights overall, but Ryanair Corporate statistics propose 73,000 global flights in January 2026, welcoming 12.7 Million passengers. However Wizz Air became the very last, just short of 900 flights completed, with Air France and EasyJet overtaking its numbers.

What’s also worth noting is that while Istanbul Airport (IST) ranked first for the most frequented airports in February 2026, Turkish Airlines only came second in the ranks with 1,512 flights, so there is a data correlation between the consistent use of Turkish Airlines flights being frequented from Istanbul within the last 30 days. This is because of weekly flights directly from Istanbul to London Stansted Airport (STN) se to start in March 2026.
