Manchester Airport (MAN) is adding a new African route to its service. Using Boeing aircraft, weekly flights from Manchester to Algiers will commence from June.
New African Route
MAN is gaining a new route to Africa this summer. Beginning Sunday, June 14, 2026, Air Algerie will be serving Algiers. Two weekly flights will be added for Tuesdays and Sundays and Boeing 737s will operate this route.
This new route means that Manchester will become the only UK airport outside of London with a direct link to Algiers, removing the need for layovers. Passengers will use the newly transformed Terminal 2, which has benefited from a £1.3 billion investment, offering world-class lounges, shops, and dining.
This new route will allow key connections from Algiers, including:
- Johannesburg in South Africa
- Abuja in Nigeria
- Dakar in Senegal
- Douala in Cameroon.
Manchester Airport‘s Chief Commercial Officer, Stephen Turner, stated:
“We are proud to connect the North to the world and our new partnership with Air Algerie really epitomises what we mean by that.
Tourism and Economic Benefits
This new African route is expected to stimulate business travel and tourism between the North of England and North Africa. It is also expected to strengthen trade ties and boost regional productivity in the North of England.
Turner added:
“This new route doesn’t just connect people with a new destination for holidays – it connects African communities in the north to friends and families all over the continent.
“It will make a huge difference to thousands of people and we are very excited to welcome the first passengers in the summer – and, of course, all of those who follow.”
Therefore, these new routes will open up many possibilities for passengers; they will have enhanced access to a range of destinations across Africa and Asia. This supports both leisure and business travel.
