EasyJet to Launch New Liverpool to Belfast Route

Multinational low-cost carrier easyJet has announced plans to launch a new route between Liverpool and Belfast.

The flights will operate from Liverpool John Lennon Airport and George Best Belfast City Airport.

From Merseyside to Northern Ireland

The new route will start operating on 1 July, and will initially follow a daily service schedule of six flights a week before increasing to seven flights a week.

This move comes as easyJet looks to expand its operations to Belfast. Last year, the Luton-based carrier started a service from George Best Belfast City Airport to London Gatwick; a crucial move in connecting the capital of Northern Ireland to London, the capital of Great Britain.

The move is looking to bring in positive numbers and demand, as easyJet forecast recently that passenger numbers and demand at Belfast will return to pre-pandemic levels this year as the aviation sector recovers. The boost over the summer period will likely be a huge help.

EasyJet’s UK Country Manager, Ali Gayward, spoke positively about the airline’s new route to Belfast:

“We are proud to be the largest airline in Northern Ireland and look forward to serving our customers in Belfast with more choice and great value fares, with our flying set to return to near 2019 levels this summer.”

Belfast City Airport’s CEO, Matthew Hall, was recently appointed in May of last year. He shared how delighted the airport was over the new service following the success of the London Gatwick service. He continued:

“We are certain that this route will be popular with our passengers who choose Belfast City Airport due to its close proximity to the city and the ease at which passengers travel through the airport, averaging only six minutes to glide through security.”
