A 16-year-old was struck by a Cessna jet in Venezuela earlier this week while the aircraft was landing on the runway. The teenager died from his injuries on the runway of San Juan de Los Morros Airport, Guárico, Venezuela, according to local media reports.

The 16-year-old was hit by one of the plane’s wings

On Jan. 6, 2026, a Cessna S550 S/II struck a teenager who was riding his motorbike and entered the airfield just as the plane was landing, not noticing its proximity. Reports say the teenager was hit by the wing of the plane. Those on board were not injured in the crash. Local media further reported that the pilot attempted to avoid the boy but was unsuccessful. The teenager died due to head trauma, massive bleeding and severe injuries to his upper body.

The small plane took on minor damage in the crash, with authorities seizing the plane for further investigations

San Juan de Los Morros airport in Venezuela is a small regional airport that lacks an air traffic control tower and has a runway spanning 5,000 feet. It is used for small planes, helicopters and private jets to take off and land.

The Cessna S550, a popular choice of light business jet, was operated by Inversiones Elicar 2001 C.A. The jet can hold up to seven passengers, alongside two pilots. It is unclear how many were on board at the time of the crash.

The aircraft has been seized by local authorities for further investigation before a preliminary report will be released to the public.
