A Strategic Move for Avianca’s Expansion

The new Avianca VIP Lounge Miami is the airline’s 11th worldwide and is available to Avianca, TAP Air Portugal, and  select Star Alliance passengers. Launched in conjunction with TAP Air Portugal, the lounge is designed to offer a sense of luxury, relaxation, and culture for international travellers.

Avianca CEO Frederico Pedreira, shared :

“At Avianca, we continue to enhance the travel experience for our passengers.”

He also added:

“This new VIP lounge is just the beginning: in 2025, we will open two additional lounges, launch new routes in Business Class Americas, and introduce renewed experiences in Insignia. With this investment, we are reinforcing our focus on comfort, convenience, and exceptional service, ensuring travellers enjoy an unforgettable experience while travelling through one of our most important markets, like Miami.”

Avianca‘s investment in the Miami lounge demonstrates its plan to strengthen its ties to the U.S. market. Miami is a key connecting hub for travellers to Latin America, and Avianca operates 249 weekly frequencies on 36 routes from MIA. The airline expects over 16,500 customers to use the lounge in 2025.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava welcomed the addition to MIA’s growing list of premium services:

“Congratulations to our long-time partners at Avianca and TAP Air Portugal on the grand opening of their new lounge. This new premium amenity is another big step in the airport-wide modernisation of MIA, which aims at enhancing the travel experience, attracting global visitors, and strengthening Miami’s position as a premier international Gateway.”
