Low-cost Operator Avelo Airlines officially flew its millionth passenger from Hollywood-Burbank (BUR) airport, dubbed LA’s Most Convenient Airport, on August 31st.

Low Cost and Convenient
Avelo maintains low costs by using a single aircraft type across its fleet – the Boeing 737-800. It offers comparatively limited routes across the U.S., primarily utilizing smaller airports. Currently, the airline offers just one flight outside the continental U.S.
The low-cost airline’s inaugural flight took off in April 2021, boasting a mission of transporting customers to Los Angeles while avoiding the hassle Los Angeles Airport, or LAX, is known for. As mentioned above, the airline’s primary use of BUR airport means it has achieved its goal of convenience. Alongside curb-side pickup and drop-off, BUR airport has comparatively short walking distances between terminals and ground transportation. Unlike LAX, a Shuttle is not necessary for navigation through BUR. Avelo describes it as “L.A.’s most convenient airport.”.
In September 2022, the carrier announced a new base at Southwest Florida International Airport, signifying a fast expansion for the airline. Today, Avelo Airlines has served 23 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, promising non-stop flights and easier travel. The airline has flown over three million passengers across continental America.
Because every flight will make at least one stop at a hometown airport, the company notes that it flies “unserved routes” across America. The carrier modestly prices extra legroom as part of their commitment to customer experience.

America’s Most Reliable Airline
Since their first flight, the carrier has prided itself on its low cost and punctuality, achieving the lowest flight cancellation rate in 2023 in the USA and the second-best on-time performance. The airline is connection-free, instead exclusively flying customers directly to their destination, a policy that avoids delays, lost baggage, and cancellations.
Because of these achievements, the airline describes itself as “America’s Most Reliable Airline”.
Do you have experience flying Avelo? If so, do you agree with the airline’s self-described title?
