The Airports Authority Of India have taken further steps in their initiatives to help the Aviation Industry and indeed the country combat COVID-19. As of today, they were present at Srinagar International Airport in Jammu & Kashmir to donate two Critical Care Ambulances, containing basic life support systems. This is part of a wider Corporate Social Responsibility based activities that the Airports Authority of India are involved in. The Deputy Commissioner of Jammu & Kashmir, DC Budgam and the Airport Director, Santosh Dhoke oversaw the presentation of the Critical Care Ambulances.

Vision For Usage Of Donated Equipment

A spokesperson for Srinagar International Airport said, “The Srinagar International Airport sponsored fully equipped 02 no. of Critical Care Ambulance with basic life support to the Department of the Chief Medical Officer, Budgam, Government of Jammu & Kashmir through the office of the DC Budgam worth Rs. 76 Lakhs (US $103,000) under Corporate Social Responsibilities initiative scheme donated by Airports Authority of India for improving the health care facility in Jammu & Kashmir.

Furthermore, there is clear intent on ensuring that local hospitals in the region can benefit from the additional equipment. The spokesperson went on to state, “Two of the critical care ambulances will be utilised at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Chadoora and Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Magam respectively for plying emergency and referral patient care.”

It is also important to note that Indigo Airline, earlier in the week, began direct flights between GMR Hyderabad International Airport and Srinagar International Airport four days a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday). Consequently, busier air traffic is anticipated in the region, thereby reinforcing the need for additional equipment to manage any potential outbreaks of COVID-19.
