Air India has initiated its Easy Connect service via Amritsar (ATQ), a key aspect of the Government of India’s hub-and-spoke model for easy international connectivity from Punjab. As a result, the Easy Connect service is part of the wider national rollout, which started in June 2026, and has now extended to new cities like Amritsar.

How Easy Connect service from Amritsar works

Through the Easy Connect project, global travellers from Amritsar are able to complete check-in on the way to their final destinations, process immigration, and enjoy straightforward transfers via Delhi. This eliminates baggage re-checking and changing terminals.

Currently, Air India operates two daily flights from Amritsar to Delhi as part of its Easy Connect service. AI1113 departs Amritsar at 09:10 a.m. and arrives in Delhi at 10:40 a.m. Meanwhile, AI115 departs Amritsar at 10:00 p.m. and arrives in Delhi at 11:20 p.m.

Altogether, both of the above flights support connectivity to 27 global destinations within four hours of arrival in Delhi, including destinations spanning Australasia, Asia, Europe and North America.

How India has emerged as a global aviation hub

The Easy Connect initiative is part of a wider campaign to channel global traffic via Indian airports instead of global transit hubs. About 25 million passengers take long-haul air travel between India and the rest of the world annually.

As the Government of India initiated the hub-and-spoke framework within the country, the Easy Connect project aims to shift more air traffic via Indian aviation hubs. As Air India currently operates the largest global network among Indian carriers, connecting India with the rest of the world, and overseeing an extensive domestic network, it has become a part of the Government of India’s long-term aviation strategy.
