New European Routes

The inaugural flight touched down in Porto yesterday morning, after taking off from Montreal the night before. The route, operated using Airbus 330-300 aircraft, offers three classes of service: Economy, Premium Economy, and Air Canada Signature Class.

Outbound flights depart on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, while inbound flights leave Portugal on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

The seasonal route runs from 04 June- 28 August 2025, with the airline hoping it will appeal to both travellers who want to explore Porto’s rich cultural landscape and those who wish to visit family and friends.

Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer and President, Cargo said:

We are delighted to be returning to Porto, marking our newest Europe route this summer and second destination in Portugal. We design routes like this one to appeal to our customers throughout our North American network, with convenient travel options at our Montreal hub. A world heritage city and gateway to Portugal’s northern region, Porto offers an array of history, culture, outdoor adventures, and gastronomic experiences. Whether customers are visiting friends, family or exploring Southern Europe, we look forward to welcoming our customers onboard our Portugal flights.”

Porto is the latest in several new European routes to be launched by Air Canada this summer. Other destinations include Naples, London, Prague and Edinburgh.

Porto: UNESCO World Heritage Site

Porto has been a designated World Heritage Site since 1996. With an over 2000 year history, the city boasts Porto Cathedral, Clérigos Church and Clérigos Tower and the Church of São Francisco, as well as the Dom Luís I Bridge which oversees the Douro River.

Not to be missed is the Cais da Ribeira district, a colourful promenade nestled on the riverfront.
