Cargolux has partnered with Cathay Technologies to introduce a new Electronic Flight Folder (EFF) system designed to digitise and centralise key flight operations data, according to a joint announcement released on June 15, 2026. The agreement was formally signed at Cargolux headquarters in Luxembourg, attended by senior executives including Captain James Toye, head of line operations at Cathay Technologies, and Claude Konsbrück, vice president of flight operations at Cargolux.

Digital flight systems aimed at improving operational efficiency

The Electronic Flight Folder system will replace traditional paper-based flight documentation with a fully integrated digital platform. According to the companies, the system consolidates flight plans, load sheets, and fuel data into a single interface to support faster decision-making and improved workflow efficiency. Cargolux has said the move reflects a wider industry trend toward digitalisation as airlines seek to manage growing operational complexity while improving safety and sustainability performance.

A key feature of the system is “Ops Chat,” a real-time communication tool embedded directly into flight workflows, enabling coordination between cockpit crews and ground operations teams. Claude Konsbrück, vice president of flight operations at Cargolux, said the airline selected the system for its innovation and pilot-focused design.

“We set out to select an Electronic Flight Folder that delivers genuine innovation and moves beyond incremental evolution of legacy concepts,” Konsbrück said in a statement.

Cathay Technologies highlights pilot-focused design

Navin Chellaram, CEO of Cathay Technologies, said the collaboration is built on operational expertise from within the aviation industry.

“We are delighted to partner with Cargolux to enhance its flight operations through our Electronic Flight Folder solution,” Chellaram said.

The rollout of the Electronic Flight Folder reflects a wider industry shift toward digitisation in air cargo operations, as carriers seek to improve efficiency, reduce paperwork, and enhance real-time coordination between flight and ground teams.
