JetBlue Airways’ highly anticipated BlueFirst domestic first-class is now available for booking on over 40 routes across the US. The service will start on Dec. 8 for flights between Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to/from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).

JetBlue’s BlueFirst class availability

BlueFirst will be available on domestic flights that aren’t currently served by JetBlue’s lie-flat Mint business class, which it offers on long-haul flights. The new service is part of an overhaul of the carrier’s fare options, including basic options that don’t come with things like seat assignments, a standard option and a “flex” option, which is refundable and easily adjustable.

BlueFirst will first be available for flights between BOS and FLL, then for flights between FLL and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), and FLL and LaGuardia Airport (LGA).

The class will offer seats that recline up to 5 inches and have up to 7 more inches of legroom than Main seats, said JetBlue. The offer also includes Bluetooth-connected seatback screens, upgraded food and beverage options, Group 1 boarding and faster security.

In a press release, JetBlue’s CEO  Joanna Geraghty said:

“We designed BlueFirst to deliver a more accessible first-class experience that combines the thoughtful hospitality and service customers expect from JetBlue with exceptional value and comfort. We’re excited that customers can now start making BlueFirst part of their travel plans.”

BlueFirst fares

JetBlue is offering some introductory fares for BlueFirst seats for select flights, including $299 tickets from BOS to FLL, $249 tickets from LGA to FLL and $299 tickets from LGA to Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR).

BlueFirst’s fare options have three tiers:

  • BlueFirst Base: a lower-cost option that includes one checked bag, priority check-in and security, and Group 1 boarding. Seat selection is free within 24 hours of departure, but there are fees for changes and cancellations.
  • BlueFirst: the regular option that includes two checked bags, free seat selection and no fees for changes or cancellations.
  • BlueFirst Flex: a flexible option with the same perks as BlueFirst but offers a refund for cancellations and no fees for same-day switches or standby.
