Embraer and Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand cooperation on maintenance and support capabilities for the C-390 Millennium military transport aircraft in Greece. The agreement, signed on May 22, 2026, outlines a framework for future collaboration focused on maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) support for the Hellenic Air Force’s potential future C-390 fleet.

Under the agreement, HAI and Embraer plan to explore opportunities to expand in-country maintenance and support infrastructure related to the C-390 Millennium programme. The companies said the cooperation is intended to support greater operational autonomy for the Hellenic Air Force while developing local aerospace expertise.

The agreement was signed by Fabio Caparica, vice president of Contracts at Embraer Defence & Security, and Alexandros Diakopoulos, executive chairman of Hellenic Aerospace Industry.

Diakopoulos said the agreement reflects HAI’s long-term objective of expanding its role within the European aerospace and defence industry through local maintenance and industrial development initiatives.

Expanding Embraer’s European defence presence

The MoU forms part of Embraer’s wider strategy to expand its defence and aerospace partnerships across Europe. The company said strengthening regional maintenance and support capabilities remains a priority as more countries evaluate or operate the C-390 Millennium platform.

The C-390 Millennium is a multi-mission military transport aircraft designed for cargo transport, troop deployment, medical evacuation, humanitarian missions, and aerial logistics operations. Embraer states that the aircraft was developed with interoperability and operational flexibility in mind for international operators.

The agreement between Embraer and HAI follows growing interest in regional aerospace cooperation and localised maintenance support programmes across Europe’s defence sector.
