Aerospace supply chain ties between India and Brazil

The agreement, announced in New Delhi on May 11, will see Bharat Forge supply forged aerospace components and forgings for Embraer’s aviation programmes. The companies did not disclose financial details of the deal.

Bharat Forge has signed a long-term contract with Embraer to manufacture and supply critical landing gear forgings for Embraer’s commercial and defence aircraft programmes. The partnership highlights Embraer’s increasing focus on India as a manufacturing and sourcing base for aerospace production.

Roberto Chaves, executive vice president of global procurement and supply chain at Embraer, said India represented an important market for the company’s supplier expansion plans. He said the agreement would help strengthen Embraer’s supplier network while supporting the growth of India’s aerospace manufacturing sector.

Amit B. Kalyani, vice chairman and joint managing director of Bharat Forge, said the agreement marked the company’s entry as Embraer’s first Indian supplier of aerospace forgings. He said the partnership would

“Support the production of structural aerospace components, load-bearing parts used in aircraft structures, and complement Bharat Forge’s existing aerospace and aeroengine manufacturing business.”

India’s growing role in global aerospace manufacturing

The agreement comes as Embraer expands its engagement with Indian aerospace manufacturers and government stakeholders as part of its long-term growth strategy in the country.

Headquartered in Brazil, Embraer manufactures commercial, executive, defence and agricultural aircraft. Founded in 1969, the company has delivered more than 9,000 aircraft worldwide. According to the company, Embraer is among the largest manufacturers of commercial jets with up to 150 seats.

Bharat Forge, headquartered in Pune, India, manufactures engineered metal components for industries including automotive, aerospace, defence, energy and construction.
