Korean Air has been elected as chair airline of SkyTeams’ Safety, Security & Quality (SSQ) committee with Bennett Allen Walsh, Korean Air’s Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Aviation Safety & Security, serving as the SSQ Functional Executive for the two-year term.

Reliable Travel Experiences

The SSQ committee aims to ensure standardised safety measures are implemented across both the SkyTeam Alliance and the wider aviation industry. As chair airline, Korean Air will work in tandem with the SkyTeam Executive Board to ensure that the relevant safety measures are implemented, and also to promote and enhance collaboration between member airlines.

Key initiatives that Korean Air will prioritise during its tenure include enhancing guidelines around the use of portable power banks onboard flights and ensuring SkyTeam’s Emergency Response Plan is implemented consistently across all member airlines.

Discussing the appointment, a Korean Air representative said:

“This appointment reflects Korean Air’s unwavering commitment to advancing the highest standards of aviation safety, security and quality. We will continue to work closely with SkyTeam members to further strengthen alliance-wide standards and deliver safer, more reliable travel experiences for passengers worldwide.”

SkyTeam Alliance

Founded in June 2000, the SkyTeam Alliance is a coalition of 18 airlines including Korean Air, Delta and Air France. Along with Star Alliance and Oneworld, it is one of the three main global airline alliances. It aims to provide passengers with a seamless customer journey by offering a comprehensive priority service, streamlined transfers and the chance to earn and redeem miles across all member airlines.
