Emirates has unveiled its first Airbus A380 equipped with Starlink Wi-Fi. The newly retrofitted aircraft recently arrived at Dubai International Airport (DXB) following installation work in the UK, introducing high-speed onboard internet connectivity across all cabins.

Next-generation connectivity on the Emirates A380
The installation adds higher-capacity connectivity to the Emirates A380 fleet, with increased bandwidth supporting streaming, browsing, and other online services during flights.
Starlink, developed by SpaceX, has been adopted by several airlines in recent years, including Hawaiian Airlines and airBaltic, as carriers expand onboard connectivity offerings. SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has previously highlighted Starlink’s potential for aviation connectivity, particularly on remote and oceanic flight routes where traditional connectivity systems may face limitations.
According to Emirates, the system provides up to 2 Gbps of total aircraft bandwidth and is supported by three antennas installed on each aircraft. The setup has also been adapted for the A380’s double-deck layout, with additional wireless access points intended to improve coverage throughout the aircraft.
The service will be available free of charge to passengers. Emirates also said it plans to introduce live TV streaming through personal devices and seatback entertainment screens in the future.
The Starlink installation expands connectivity options available on the Emirates A380, which already includes features such as the Onboard Lounge and First Class Shower Spa.

Fleet rollout and investment in passenger experience
Emirates plans to accelerate Starlink installations across its fleet, with retrofitting set to continue at its engineering facilities in Dubai. So far, 25 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft have already been equipped, and more A380s are scheduled for upgrades throughout 2026.
The airline reports that over 650,000 passengers have already experienced Starlink connectivity onboard. This initiative is part of a broader investment strategy that includes a large-scale cabin retrofit programme and enhancements across all travel classes.
With the rollout of Emirates A380 Starlink Wi-Fi, the airline is expanding high-speed connectivity across its fleet. As Emirates continues installing Starlink, onboard internet access and digital services are expected to become more widely available across long-haul aircraft.
