South Korean low-cost carrier (LCC) t’way Air has rebranded its corporate name to Trinity Airways on March 31, after seeking approval from its shareholders.

From Hansung Airlines to t’way Air
Originally founded as Hansung Airlines, the first domestic LCC for South Korea in 2004. After ceasing operations in 2009, the airline was restructured and relaunched under the name t’way Air in 2010.
Since then, the airline has grown considerably and currently serves long-haul routes to destinations including Vancouver, Sydney and other European cities. According to ch-aviation, in June 2025, the airline was acquired by Daemyung Sono Group after completing a payment of KRW25 billion (US$18.5 million), giving the group a major stake. The Korea Times reported that as part of the takeover, the group also appointed new board directors.

A New Identity in the Making
With 99.2% supporting the favour of name change to Trinity Airways, shareholders of t’way Air are keen to rebrand following the approvals from domestic and foreign authorities. The rebrand also follows the airline securing USD 17 million in shareholder backing, according to ch-aviation. Until then, the airline would retain its existing name, IATA code, flight numbers and reservations.
According to an announcement from the airline, on Sept. 9, 2025, the company announced that the rebranding will take effect in the first half of 2026.
