Malaysia Airlines is expanding its East Asia network with new routes to China and the return of services to Japan. The airline will introduce flights to Shenzhen and Changsha, and resume services to Fukuoka. The routes are expected to launch between July and September 2026.

New routes strengthen presence in East Asia
The return to Fukuoka marks the airline’s first service to the Japanese city in nearly two decades, with the last flights operating in 2006.
The addition of Shenzhen and Changsha will expand Malaysia Airlines’ China network to nine destinations. These include existing routes such as Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong.
The expansion reflects growing demand for travel across East Asia and aims to strengthen connectivity between the region and Malaysia.

Increased frequencies across a wider network
Alongside the new routes, the airline is increasing frequencies on several existing services. These include destinations such as Brisbane, Manila and Colombo.
Additional flights are also being scheduled on selected long-haul routes to support passenger demand during periods of disruption.
The wider expansion forms part of efforts to position Kuala Lumpur as a key transit hub linking Asia with other global markets.
The addition of new East Asia routes and increased frequencies highlights continued growth in Malaysia Airlines’ network. The changes are expected to improve regional connectivity and provide more options for passengers travelling across Asia.
