Etihad Airways has announced a 42% expansion of its U.S. network, set to begin on March 20, 2026, in response to growing demand for travel between the United Arab Emirates and North America.
Etihad’s Reasons for Expansion
Currently, Etihad has five daily services departing from its hub in Abu Dhabi to America. Following the expansion, Etihad Airways flights will operate seven daily flights.
Additionally, the new and increased services will improve the connectivity between the U.S. and the UAE. As one of the largest airlines in the Gulf region, Etihad aims to fly to new American destinations in order to attract American tourism.
Furthermore, American air travellers have gone to and from South Asia significantly, meaning that the route expansion will also link the States with high-demand destinations within South Asia, through Eithad’s flights.
New Destinations
Beginning March 2026, the carrier will start flying to new cities within North America, as well as increase flight frequency in some destinations. The new routes include Charlotte and Atlanta, and the airline will increase Chicago service from one to two daily flights.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport (KCLT), North Carolina, will receive three weekly flights from and to Abu Dhabi. The city is an important point of connection linking it to several cities and international destinations. This service will be operated with an Airbus A350-1000.
Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), the world’s busiest airport, receives more than 100 million passengers per year. The service will operate daily with an Airbus A350-1000.
