Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, ultra-low-cost carrier based in the UAE that is owned partly by Wizz Air Holdings, has recently announced an extension to its network from Abu Dhabi.

The carrier will be serving the island of the Maldives via its capital, Malé, and its 5th key destination in the Gulf, Kuwait.

Expanding Its Network

As the demand for air travel grows substantially, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has felt that the market was in a prime position to expand to exciting and highly anticipated destinations.

The new routes will allow the carriers to work on their ambition to provide travellers based in the UAE to reach stunning destinations at an affordable rate. With prices from AED 99 and AED 319, passengers will be welcomed by pleasurably cheap rates.

The carrier hasn’t wasted any time too – tickets are already on sale on its website!

The Maldives continues to be one of the most sought-after destinations in the Indian Ocean, especially for travellers looking for Maldives beach escapes, luxury resorts, and clear turquoise waters far from busy city life.

The carrier will fly from Abu Dhabi International Airport to Velana International Airport near Malé four times a week. The service will start from 4 October.

Flights to Kuwait, which is located in the North-Western corner of the Persian Gulf, will operate daily from Dhabi International Airport from 30 October.

Both new routes will be served by a brand new Airbus A321neo aircraft the carrier will receive later this year.

This announcement marks the first time Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has flown to a total of 34 destinations within a 5-hour flight time radius of Abu Dhabi since the carrier launched in January 2021.

Owain Jones, Development Officer at Wizz Air, said:

“We are excited to announce two new Wizz Air Abu Dhabi routes, which reaffirm our commitment to supporting the UAE’s travel and tourism industry by connecting its capital with many popular holiday destinations regionally and globally. With the arrival of our fifth Airbus aircraft in October, we are delighted to enhance connectivity with our neighbour countries across the GCC with flights to Kuwait, as well as providing our customers with affordable flights to the Maldives. We are particularly excited about the launch of flights to the Maldives, a tropical paradise destination high up on travellers’ bucket list. The WIZZ team looks forward to welcoming customers onboard our young and green aircraft very soon.”

Overall, this announcement confirms Wizz Air Abu Dhabi’s mission to expand its network all while offering ultra-low-cost fares.
