Codeshare agreement

IndiGo recently commenced non-stop long-haul operations from Mumbai to Amsterdam, using its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft taken on a damp-lease from Norse Atlantic Airlines. The agreement between IndiGo and KLM will allow the airline to place its codes on KLM-operated routes to 30 destinations across Europe and the UK through Amsterdam.

The agreement also complements the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IndiGo, Delta Air Line, Air France-KLM, and Virgin Atlantic, which was signed in June 2025 during the 81st IATA AGM. The airline group unveiled a groundbreaking partnership aimed at expanding its network across North America, the UK, Europe, India, and other regions, in response to the growing demand for international travel and to enhance convenience for its passengers.

Extension Benefits

IndiGo and KLM finalised their codeshare partnership in 2022, which provided KLM customers access to 24 destinations on IndiGo’s network. As mentioned before, this extended agreement allows IndiGo to expand its reach to 30 destinations across Europe and the UK, including Paris, Geneva, Madrid, Brussels, Berlin, London, Oslo, Stockholm, Prague, Helsinki, and much more.

Pieter Elbers, chief executive officer at IndiGo, commented on IndiGo’s commitment to offering global connectivity to their customers as part of the airline’s ambitious internalisation strategy. Elbers expressed his enthusiasm about the extension of the agreement, highlighting the added convenience it brings to IndiGo passengers traveling across Europe and the UK via Schiphol Airport, a major European hub. He emphasized that travelers will gain from the synergy of both airlines’ networks and noted that the partnership supports IndiGo’s broader vision of expanding global connectivity and promoting increased trade and tourism between India, Europe, and beyond.

Marjan Rintel, chief executive officer at KLM, was also delighted at the collaboration between the two airlines, stating the convenience it provides travellers between India and Europe, including the UK, through their hub in Amsterdam. Rintel said:

“This expansion further strengthens the ties between our regions and connects people and opportunities across continents, offering them more choice and flexibility. Customers can now book their travel itineraries across Europe and the UK on IndiGo’s website or mobile application starting August 01, 2025, for travel from August 11, 2025 (subject to regulatory approvals).”
