On Feb. 4, 2026, Airbus announced at the 2026 Singapore Airshow that Tigerair Taiwan signed a purchase agreement for four A321-200N aircraft to join their fleet. The new aircraft adds to their A320 family and will help to support the airline’s network expansion.
A Little About Tigerair Taiwan
Tigerair Taiwan is the first low-cost carrier in Taiwan, founded in 2013 and having launched operations in 2014. The airline is a subsidiary of China Airlines Group, and it operates budget-friendly flights from Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) to over 20 destinations across Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, and Macau.
They use a fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft – with A321neo expansion plans – and are known as a popular and low-cost option for passengers travelling between Taiwan and neighbouring Asian countries.
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus‘s executive vice president of sales of the commercial aircraft business, stated:
“We are pleased to see Tigerair Taiwan reaffirm its confidence in Airbus as it takes another step in its fleet growth. The addition of the A321neo will complement its existing A320 fleet,” he said, adding that “The A321neo is the ideal platform for Tigerair Taiwan to capture growing demand while maintaining its commitment to cost-effective operations.”
Adding A321-200N Aircraft to the Fleet
This agreement marks the airline’s first order of this aircraft type, and the transaction is part of a broader fleet renewal plan approved in December 2025, which valued the purchase of the four aircraft at up to $586 million.
As well as the new aircraft, the airline intends to lease 11 additional A321-200Ns to support its growth, as the airline currently operates nine A320-200s and eight A320-200Ns. In addition to the four A321-200Ns, it also ordered seven incremental A320-200Ns.
Joyce Huang, chairperson of Tigerair Taiwan, said:
“The purchase of A321neo aircraft is a cornerstone of our ‘third-generation’ fleet expansion, designed to maximise operational efficiency as we scale for regional dominance.
“The A321neo allows us to increase capacity on our high-demand ‘golden routes’ and accelerate network expansion,” she continued. “It advances our journey toward a younger, more fuel-efficient fleet that meets both our commercial and ESG targets.”
The new aircraft offers more seats per movement, which will help to increase the airline’s growth through additional frequencies. It will also help to deliver improved fuel efficiency and reduced emissions compared to the previous generation aircraft.
