Canadian airline WestJet has completed the cabin transformation of its remaining all-economy aircraft, fulfilling its commitment to update the interiors of aircraft formerly operated by Swoop or Sunwing.

A Premium Upgrade
The cabin refresh includes upgraded Premium seating, an expanded Extended Comfort cabin, improved amenities and a revitalised interior look and feel. This work aligns with WestJet’s standardisation of the onboard experience across its narrowbody fleet.
Samantha Taylor, WestJet group executive vice president and chief experience officer, said:
“Unifying our narrowbody fleet is an important step in delivering the reliable and welcoming experience our guests and WestJetters expect from us. This milestone creates a stronger foundation for our teams to focus on delivering exceptional service and a seamless travel experience for our guests.”
Aircraft that previously operated with an all-economy layout will now offer WestJet’s Premium, Extended Comfort and Economy cabins, with new onboard features which include: fast and free WestJet Wi-Fi presented by TELUS, updated headrests with four-way adjustment, seatback holders for phones and tablets, modernised charging ports and coat hooks.

Looking Towards the Future
The airline will continue to transform its legacy narrowbody aircraft next month; the refurbishment will include enhanced amenities and expanded Extended Comfort cabins now available on the airline’s reconfigured aircraft.
This work will begin in September and is expected to be complete by the end of 2027. Nearly 14 Boeing 737-800 aircraft will be updated this year.
WestJet is also prioritising exterior updates to its narrowbody fleet, with the airline expecting all aircraft to fly the iconic teal and navy livery by the end of 2026.
The Canadian carrier has also recently completed restoring the legroom in its Boeing 737 aircraft that briefly operated with 180 seats. The retrofit project was originally planned to be completed this Autumn; however, WestJet wrapped up the project early, partway through June. All previously affected aircraft now fly with 174 seats, a refreshed interior, and enhanced amenities, including WestJet Wi-Fi presented by TELUS.
