Cathay Pacific started its ’80 Years Together’ anniversary celebrations by unveiling its new livery and specially curated merchandise. In an event to unveil the livery, their cabin crew dressed up in a vintage uniform to pay tribute to the people involved in Cathay’s 80 years of flying.

’80 Years Together’ anniversary
Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong’s flag carrier, started its journey in aviation in 1946 and has been helping people move to and from Hong Kong since then. The airline has contributed to Hong Kong for the past 80 years by helping people in cities like Kai Tak and Chek Lap Kok to fly abroad for studies, business, or tourism and by delivering vital supplies at critical moments.
The people of Hong Kong have shared an enormous amount of memories and journeys with the Cathay Pacific airlines.
In the future, the airline is planning to invest HK$100 billion on their fleet, cabin products, lounges and digital innovation to elevate the customer experience and become customers’ loved airline brand.
Cathay Group Chief Executive Officer, Ronald Lam, said,
“Today marks not just an important milestone for Cathay, but a celebration of our ‘80 Years Together’ with Hong Kong. Guided by our purpose to move people forward in life, Cathay and Hong Kong have grown together over the past eight decades, supporting each other through thick and thin. With the continued support and encouragement of our people, customers and partners, I am confident that Cathay, as an iconic Hong Kong brand, will soar to even greater heights in the years to come.”
To celebrate its 80 years of flying, the airline will be conducting a series of special events throughout 2026, all under the central theme of ’80 Years Together’.

Livery and Merchandise unveiled
The airline unveiled a special aircraft livery on one of its long-haul Airbus A350 passenger aircraft at a launch event to drumroll its 80-year celebrations. It pays homage to its iconic green-and-white striped paint scheme along with the 80th anniversary year mark and is decorated with the “lettuce leaf sandwich” design.
Another “lettuce leaf sandwich” design livery on Boeing 747 freighters will also be revealed in the coming weeks. In the celebration event their cabin crew donned the airline’s vintage uniforms and made an appearance. Around 1000 to 2000 cabin crew and ground staff will make an appearance by wearing these vintage uniforms throughout 2026.
They are also planning to release specially curated merchandise inspired by their special liveries and iconic designs from different eras. The merchandise collection will include elements across aviation, travel, and everyday life essentials. Cathay is also planning to announce more exciting events and deals throughout 2026 to celebrate its landmark year.
