Korean Air reported solid revenue growth in the fourth quarter of 2025, even as rising operating costs weighed on profitability.

Korean Air Posts Q4 2025 Report

The airline recorded Q4 revenue of USD 3.17 billion, up about USD 364 million year-on-year. Operating profit, however, fell 5% from a year earlier to USD 287.9 million, reflecting higher operating expenses.

Passenger business revenue reached USD 1.81 billion, an increase of about USD 151 million from Q4 2024. Cargo revenue also rose, climbing to USD 860.0 million, up about USD 24.5 million year-on-year. Performance was supported by steady e-commerce volumes, seasonal year-end demand, and reduced market volatility following U.S.-China tariff negotiations.

For the full year 2025, Korean Air posted revenue of USD 11.50 billion, up 2% from 2024. Operating profit declined 19% to USD 1.07 billion, while net income fell 21% to USD 672.5 million, reflecting ongoing cost pressures.

Network Performance and Outlook for 2026

Though the demand on North American routes remained largely flat due to tighter entry regulations and stronger competition on U.S. West Coast routes. Still, the overall network delivered better revenue and profitability, driven by strong short-haul demand—particularly to Japan and China—during the Chuseok holiday period in October.

Looking ahead to the first quarter of 2026, Korean Air is planning to strengthen passenger sales in overseas markets to offset the weak Korean won and softening outbound demand from Korea. The airline is planning to flexibly adjust capacity to capture peak travel periods, including the Lunar New Year holiday in February.

Due to slowing global economic growth, Korean Air expects continued uncertainty in cargo operations. It plans to focus on profitability through portfolio diversification and flexible deployment of freighter capacity based on market conditions.

The airline said it will respond quickly to external changes while maintaining high service standards as it prepares for the launch of its integrated airline.

Do you think the airline will grow more in the year 2026 as it planned?
