The Civil High Court in Suva, Fiji, is planning to hold the next round of hearings in the long-running 3.2 million Fijian dollars ($1.4 million US) Israel charter lawsuit on Feb. 6, 2026.
What is the Israel Charter lawsuit?
The Israel charter lawsuit was filed by Fiji Airways against charterer Micheal Mausio, his companies WABS Pacific PTR Limited (also known as Pacific Voyager) and Kane Holdings PTE Ltd, the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem trustees, and Kulivuso, for failing to pay $3.2 million owed for pilgrimages to Israel in 2023.
Pacific Voyager is a civil engineering company that also organises charter flights. It has worked with Fiji Airlines and other carriers for several years without any incident.
In the Israel charter flights case, Pacific Voyager acted as a facilitator between ICEJ Fiji and Faith Farwest and Fiji Airways.
In late September 2023, over 170 passengers paid deposits on a package worth over FJ$ 10,000 ($4,367) per person to fly to Israel for the Feast of Tabernacles in Jerusalem.
Micheal Mausio, Pacific Voyager owner, paid a non-refundable deposit of FJ$100,000 to Fiji Airways in early September 2023. Second and third payments of FJ$1.4 million ($630,000) were due before the flight departed in late September but they were never paid. However, Pacific Voyager had signed a deed of forbearance and guarantee agreement, which resulted in the flight going ahead.
On Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas launched an attack on Israel and the region was thrown into turmoil. Within days, the charter aircraft repatriated not only the passengers but also 46 people from six different countries and they returned safely to Nadi Airport, Fiji on Oct. 12, 2023.
Pacific Voyager and its clients claim that during the reparation the process was controlled by Fiji Airways and Fiji Government and that the return flight came to include non-fare paying Fiji Airways employees, government officials and their family members.
Many of the passengers on this charter flight failed to pay for their return journey. Fiji Airways also claimed that the Fijian government didn’t pay Fiji Airways for the repatriation of those extra passengers, even though the government took credit publicly for the reparation.
What’s happening now?
On Oct. 17, 2025, Acting Master Liyanage Wickramasekera, dismissed defence submissions from Pacific Voyager, Kane Holding PTE Ltd and Micheal Mausio after the trio ignored court orders from June requiring payment of FJ$2000 ($870) in costs and failed to file required responses since proceedings began in March.
On Dec. 12, 2025, the court dismissed an application by one of the defendants, Christian Mission Fellowship International pastor Manasa Kulivuso, to add the government of Fiji and Fiji’s Attorney General to the case.
Master Wickramasekera objected to the attempt to include the Government, stating that it was misconstrued, and dismissed the application instructing the defendants to file a proper formal application if they wished to proceed.
The next hearing of this case will now take place in February 2026.
