As of the 24th of November, 2025, Korean Air has partnered with Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) to construct a new aircraft maintenance hangar.

An Ambitious Project and Future Plans
Within Incheon International Airport’s High Tech Aviation Complex, a new aircraft maintenance hangar will be constructed, funded by a KRW 176 billion joint investment. This agreement between Korean Air and IIAC was signed at the Grand Hyatt Incheon, with the attendance of Vice Chairman of Air, Keehong Woo; President & CEO of IIAC, Hak-jae Lee, as well as more than 90 representaives from government, local authorities, and the National Assembly.
During this event, Vice Chairman Woo shared:
” A maintenance hangar is not merely a building; it is a cradle of safety and a vital foundation for upholding Korean Air’s top priority of absolute safety. From the earliest design phase, we will ensure this new hangar becomes the safest, most advanced and most exemplary maintenance base – a true stronghold of aviation safety.”
This project aims to create a next-generation maintenance facility built on a 69,299-square-metre site, able to accommodate two widebody aircrafts and one narrowbody aircraft. Additionally, it will allow for airframe inspections, component checks, and complex heavy maintenance and modification work, which will be carried out by approximately 300 personnel. This includes Korean Air’s expert maintenance workforce.
Scheduled to begin construction in 2027, with operations targeted for late 2029, the aim of this project it to further strengthen Korean Air’s world-class maintenance expertise and operational capabilities. There is no doubt that with these upcoming manufacturing projects, the airline will grow as a premier global Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) hub.
