Following an update with the ECAC (European Civil Aviation Conference) regulations, the Italian Civil Aviation Authority announces that liquids over 100 ml are now allowed in hand-carry luggage in 5 airports across Italy. Read below to see how this will change how much liquid is allowed in your hand-carry bag.

How much liquid is allowed in my hand-carry?
According to the news release, 5 airports across Italy are implementing this update to the regulation for specific passengers under certain circumstances. Below is the full list:
For Rome Fiumicino Airport, over 100 mL of liquid is allowed in hand-carry items for all passengers except on sensitive flights bound for the USA and Israel due to local regulations at destinations.
At Milan Linate Airport and Milan Malpensa Terminal 1, passengers can now carry up to 2 litres of liquid, aerosols or gels, together with their carry-on baggage.
However, at Terminal 2 of Milan Malpensa Airport, the new regulations only apply to passengers in the fast track lane, while all other passengers are bound by the previous regulations of no more than 100 mL in a transparent bag.
Bologna Airport fully adopts the new regulations with adequate scanning machines throughout the airport.
At Turin Airport, only passengers in the priority lane and Fast Track are allowed to carry more than 100 mL of liquid, while all other passengers have to follow the existing regulations.
The Italian Civil Aviation Authority also reminds travellers to check the requirements of their returning airport to avoid any additional security checks.

Updated Regulations: more liquid over 100 ml is allowed
Italy is not the first to respond to ECAC’s change in regulations. In early July, Edinburgh and Birmingham Airports also announced new regulations, allowing liquids over 100 mL to be carried in passengers’ hand-carry luggage.
