Cathay Pacific, the flag carrier for Hong Kong, has resumed its flights between Hong Kong and Brussels, Belgium, with the first flight taking off on August 3, 2025.
Direct to Brussels Four Times Weekly
The Hong Kong-based carrier has reestablished a link between Hong Kong and Central Europe, with flights now taking off four times a week for the Belgian capital in a move to provide customers with greater flexibility, convenience and variety. Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer for Cathay Pacific, celebrated the return of the route in a statement:
“We are very pleased to be back in Brussels, directly connecting our home hub with one of Europe’s major political centres and a tourism destination that’s steeped in history and culture. Our new service offers excellent flight timings in both directions, enabling customers to wake up refreshed with a full day ahead whether they are arriving in Brussels or Hong Kong.”
Cathay Pacific’s four weekly Brussels flights are operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft, which boast lie-flat beds in Business Class, as well as spacious seats and comfort in Premium Economy and Economy Classes.
The flights between Hong Kong and Brussels are scheduled according to the following timetable (all times are local):
- CX291: Hong Kong (23:50) – Brussels (07:20+1), operating Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday;
- CX294: Brussels (13:25) – Hong Kong (06:55+1), operating Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
More Ways to Reach Europe from Hong Kong
As well as the returning Brussels service, Cathay Pacific is operating other routes at an increased frequency, resulting in an estimated 100 return flights per week between Hong Kong and Europe during the summer peak. This includes five daily flights to London Heathrow, and daily flights to Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Manchester, Milan, Paris and Zurich. Barcelona, Brussels, Madrid and Munich are among the destinations with four weekly flights from Hong Kong, and Cathay Pacific flies to Rome three times per week.
Lavinia Lau, Chief Customer and Commercial Officer for Cathay Pacific, also cited the airline’s history in Europe as the motive for its continued frequent services to the continent:
“Cathay has a long history in Europe stretching back more than four decades. This year alone, we have launched services to three new destinations in Europe with new flights to Rome and Munich having already taken off in June. With increased frequencies to other popular European cities this summer as well, we’re making it even easier for customers to travel between Asia and Europe.”
In addition to these services, customers travelling from Europe to Hong Kong can also benefit from connections to other services leaving from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), Cathay Pacific’s hub airport. Combined with its low-cost carrier, HK Express, the Cathay Group serves more than 100 destinations worldwide, including 23 destinations in Mainland China.
