Aviation Minister Mike Kane MP visits the Jet2.com training facility this week to learn more about the airline’s educational pursuit to teach the next generation about aviation.

Jet2.com’s 8.5 million pound training facility

The company invested nearly 9 million pounds into a training facility in 2023, located in Cheadle, Staffordshire, to educate the next generation of Jet2 associates and build on the success of its previous facility in Bradford.

The centre includes specialised installations to provide an excellent quality of learning, such as flight simulators, in-house training devices, cabin crew units, and completely equipped classrooms to provide all departments of Jet2 to be upheld to a training standard of excellence.

The recent addition of the flight simulator, Jet2FlightPath, was shared with Aviation Minister Mike Kane and offers aspiring pilots the chance to learn how to fly with the airline without spending nearly £100,000 to self-fund. Eligible candidates, once selected, will begin their journey with Jet2 through an 18-month Airline Transport Pilot License, which is fully funded.

Steve Heapy, Jet2.com CEO, compliments the new facility that exists alongside its 2014 Bradford predecessor unit: “This fantastic new facility enables us to train and develop our award-winning teams as we grow”

Aviation Minister visits for the next generation

Meeting with a variety of colleagues and trainees at the fantastic installation located near Manchester, Mike Kane MP toured the 8.5 million pound facility to learn more about Jet2.com’s work for the next generation of aviation crew, learning about the values that underpin the educational state of the airline’s training unit.

The flight simulator program, introduced in May 2025 and toured by Aviation Minister Kane, is open to all from various backgrounds, with equal opportunities in efforts to boost the diversity of the pilot community in the company.

David Neill, Corporate Affairs & Sustainability Director at Jet2.com, shared the company’s content with the Aviation Minister’s visit and their hopefulness to hit their underlying target of “delivering an industry-leading operation whilst developing lifelong careers.”

Aviation Minister Mike Kane shares his hopeful outlook on the facility and is extremely impressed with the work being undertaken for the next generation of aviation crew, saying, “This facility is not only a testament to the strength of our aviation sector but also to the fantastic career opportunities being created right here in the Northwest.”
