STARLUX Airlines Orders Ten A350-1000s at the Paris Air Show. The Airlines signed an order with Airbus. The purchase was agreed upon by Glenn Chai, Chief Executive Officer of STARLUX Airlines, and Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Executive Vice President of the Commercial Aircraft business at Airbus. This order illustrates STARLUX’s aim to increase its operations while maintaining a commitment to high customer experience and sustainability.

STARLUX Airlines’ Ten A350-1000s

STARLUX Airlines‘ order of ten additional A350-1000 expands the airline’s fleet of Airbus aircraft. This most recent deal has been estimated to be worth around $1.85 billion, according to Cirium Ascend’s estimates. CEO of STARLUX Airlines, Glenn Chai, is expecting this new order to start being delivered in 2031, indicating the desire for future development.

The A350 has been carefully designed to operate with efficiency and sustainability in mind. The aircraft is powered by the latest generation of Rolls-Royce engines and can fly up to 9,700 nautical miles – or 8000 kilometres – non-stop with reduced carbon emissions. The aircraft is able to operate on up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and uses 25% less fuel than previous generation types.

STARLUX Airlines currently operates twenty-eight aircraft, which include the A321neo, A330neo, and A350-900. With plans to expand their fleet and offer more flights around the world, the carrier has thirty aircraft on order, and this latest purchase raises the number of jets purchased to eighteen in total.

In reference to this deal, Chai has commented:

“Expanding our international fleet with additional A350-1000s is a significant step toward reinforcing our global presence and enhancing connectivity across key markets. This aircraft offers efficiency, range and comfort, making it the perfect fit for our strategy to optimise long-haul operations while delivering an exceptional passenger experience. As we continue to strengthen our international network, the A350-1000 will play an important role in driving growth, sustainability and operational flexibility.”

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry of Airbus has also spoken about the order, saying:

“STARLUX Airlines’ decision to add more A350-1000s to its growing fleet reaffirms the aircraft’s standing as the benchmark for long-haul operations. With its advanced design and fuel-efficient performance, the A350-1000 Long Range Leader enables airlines to optimise routes while reducing environmental impact. We are pleased to strengthen our long-standing partnership with STARLUX Airlines as they expand their global footprint and connect more destinations with efficiency and comfort.”

About STARLUX Airlines

STARLUX Airlines is a Taiwanese carrier, headquartered in Taipei and with its hub at Taoyuan International Airport (TPE). The airline operated its first flight from Taipai to Macau in January 2020 and has since grown to offer flights to thirty-one destinations across eleven countries, primarily in Asia and North America.

The carrier operates an all-Airbus fleet of twenty-eight aircraft. A321s and A330neos are used for regional routes, and A350-900s for trans-Pacific ones. The additional A350-1000s that have been ordered are expected to grow STARLUX’s long-haul network.

Chai has also hinted that STARLUX is hoping to launch its first European destination in 2026, indicating further international expansion. The airline is also seeking to apply to join the Oneworld alliance by the end of this year.
