Etihad Airways announced the beginning of its collaboration with Wamos Air and subsequent combined routes from 15th December 2024. The airlines’ partnership will cover selected key routes from Abu Dhabi to Milan, Rome and Manila. In these circumstances, the conclusion of a cooperation agreement has a strategic value for the entire aviation industry. Subsequently, this agreement will satisfy the operational requirements and ensure seamless travel experiences for passengers of both airlines.

Etihad Airways’ Collaboration Strategy

Etihad Airways has decided to partner with Wamos Air for further improvement of its performance. Their cooperation will lead to increased operational efficiency and optimisation of the fleet utilisation. Etihad Airways will be able to maintain high standards of service while reducing costs thanks to the complicity of Wamos Air. In addition, the cooperative tactics will provide Etihad Airways with flexibility to manage fluctuations in demand. In the long term, this will guarantee significant profitability and a sustainable position in the competitive global aviation market for the airline.

The Role of Wamos Air

Wamos Air is a well-known airline, thanks to its operational reliability and expertise in wet leasing. It also has a skilled workforce and a well-maintained fleet. These characteristics will bring a valuable contribution to the cooperation of the two airlines. Wamos Air has long been working with the world’s largest airlines and always provides them with reliable operational support. Etihad Airways will be able to provide its seamless services through the beneficial qualities of Wamos Air. The collaboration will ensure consistency in passenger experience according to the high expectations of global clientele.

Impact on Passenger’s Experience

The partner routes will be operated by Airbus A330-200 aircraft of Wamos Air. They differ from the Etihad Airways aircraft models in design and entertainment options on board. Etihad Airways plans to completely maintain its quality and branding standards. For this reason, it is going to conduct additional training for the Wamos Aircrews. This approach will be oriented towards the solution of potential passenger concerns. Thus, the airline can guarantee a stable travel experience for passengers, regardless of operational differences with the partner.

Operational Flexibility

Etihad Airways is committed to increasing operational flexibility while maintaining high standards of service. Their collaboration with Wamos Air will not only ensure the achievement of its goal but also contribute to more similar agreements in the aviation industry. Therefore, other airlines will see a real example of an effective innovative way to adapt the industry to the growing demands in the field.

I’m afraid this is all nonsense and PR blurb from Etihad.
They have been using at least one WAMOS airframe on the KUL route for maybe a tear now. Maybe Indonesians don’t really care much for inflight service as their own airline GARUDA almost disappeared over the last 10 or 15 years. Anyway KUL IMO has been low yielding returns due to pax being mainly housemaids. As will be Manila – its again mainly expat trade – no need of luxury inflight service i.e. WAMOS will do.
Milan and Rome is not Italian pax as in general they are South Asian, Indian, Bengali, Pakistani etc and if they wanted a quality flight they would have chosen Emirates or Qatar so by choosing EY they are already on the cheap low yield end of the spectrum and that is why EY have farmed out these routes.
WAMOS has many A330-200s (an aircraft that EY withdrew from pax service maybe 2 years even before the ”scamdemic’) and are a mixed bunch, ex China Southern, Ex Aeroflot, ex Capitol Beijing etc, so for sure this is just a seat and a flight with little EY characteristics, and will do nothing for EY credibility, but I guess they don’t care about Indonesian housemaids, Philippini office girls and South Asian men looking for the cheapest route to FCO and MXP.
Obviously EY need their Dreamliner 9s and 10s for the 10 new routes prophesized for announcement on 25th November.
To summarise, do not believe a word of EY – WAMOS is just a cheap ‘rent-a-plane’ outfit from Spain.
