On November 9th, 2018, a Fly Jamaica Boeing 757-200 crashed while attempting to land at Cheddi Jagan Airport in Georgetown, Guyana. The flight had originated from Cheddi Jagan Airport, but the flight crew reported that there was a hydraulic failure less than 25 minutes after takeoff. The aircraft had stopped climbing at 20 000 ft, and a descent was initiated. Upon landing, the aircraft veered off the runway, coming to rest on a perimeter fence. The aircraft had substantial damage, including the complete detaching of the right main landing gear. The left main landing gear was also dislodged from its original position.

According to local media, six persons were injured after the crash. Initially, there were zero fatalities, however, on November 19th, an 86 year old Canadian woman died in hospital.

The investigation is still ongoing.
