A Transavia Boeing 737-800, registration PH-HZD performing flight HV-6630 from Funchal (Portugal) to Amsterdam (Netherlands) with 149 people on board, was climbing out of Funchal’s runway 05 when the crew stopped the climb at 6000 feet reporting problems with the cabin pressure and decided to divert to Faro maintaining 6000 feet all the time. The aircraft landed safely on Faro’s runway 28 about 2:20 hours after departure.

The aircraft remained on the ground in Faro for about one hour, then continued the flight climbing to FL300 en route and landed in Amsterdam with a delay of about 90 minutes.

Portugal’s Defense Minister reported the crew reported problems with the cabin pressure, fighter aircraft were dispatched to accompany the aircraft into Faro.

The airline reported the crew received an indication of a tail strike which required an examination of the aircraft.
