British Airways has revealed newly designed interiors for its Airbus A380 fleet, introducing updated suites across business, premium economy and economy cabins. The suites will feature innovative in-flight amenities and will be among the most expensive cabin upgrades handled by any airline.

The pillows are trimmed with a deep royal red, and the back walls are a zigzag pattern coloured in a dull midnight blue. The rest of the cabin is a typical bright white where storage is.

New Cabin Transformation

The Airbus A380 transformation is a multi-million-pound investment involving the installation of over 35,000 new components on each aircraft. British Airways’ equivalents of business, premium economy and economy classes – Club World, World Traveller Plus and World Traveller – will all receive updates.  Depending on the cabin, passengers will see:

  • Brand-new seats with in-flight entertainment screens
  • New amenity kits for First and World Traveller Plus
  • New bedding for First, World Traveller Plus and World Traveller
  • A new dining experience for First customers on long-haul flights

Interior design is central to the project, with refurbished retrofits of the airline’s recognisable herringbone design featured throughout the cabins. Galleys and stairways will bring a new style to the aircraft interior and show a clear concept throughout.

The focus is on comfort, according to Sean Doyle, Chairman and CEO at British Airways, who stated:

“We’ve completely reimagined the customer experience, introducing new and updated seats in every cabin, all carefully considered to deliver greater comfort and an elevated customer experience.”

Heathrow Airport's new Terminal 5 British Airways lounge features wood accents and intricate metalwork. The lighting is warm yellow, which accentuates the timber furnishings. Bold and striking architecture appears to deepen the exclusivity of the lounge.

Upgrades to Customer Experience

The lounge in Heathrow Terminal 5 C will be reshaped, to provide a smoother transition from ground to plane, while new on-board service standards in First Class will allow individual customers to feel more seen for a calmer journey, British Airways reports.

Doyle also commented that:

“At the heart of the transformation is our brand-new First suite, but this investment goes far beyond a single cabin. From redesigned interiors and upgraded dining to new amenities and service delivery, every detail has been thoughtfully designed with our customers front and centre, helping them to have a more seamless and memorable experience when they fly with us.”

The refurbished A380 aircraft will have four cabins across two decks, offering  215 seats in World Traveller, 84 in World Traveller Plus, 106 in Club World and 12 in First.
