Passengers and cabin crew on a British Airways flight experienced an alarming situation during a flight from Barcelona to London. A front cabin door erupted with a loud noise and vibration when the aircraft descended over France.

What happened?
Flight BA487, operated by an Airbus A320, took off from Barcelona-El Prat Airport at 06:00 a.m. UTC on Friday, Oct. 2. The flight was a standard scheduled two-and-a-half-hour journey to London Heathrow Airport.
At 07:32 a.m. UTC, when the aircraft began its initial descent over France at 34,000 feet, the cabin crew reported a concerning mechanical noise and strong vibrations coming from Door 1L, the main forward passenger entry door on the left side of the aircraft.
Communications inside the aircraft were significantly impacted by the loud noise. Crew members reported that the noise was so loud that they could barely hear each other inside the cockpit.

The aftermath
Despite the disruptions to communication, the crew maintained full control of the aircraft and proceeded with their descent into the terminal area of London Heathrow Airport. The flight landed safely on Runway 27L at 09:10 a.m. local time.
No injuries were reported among passengers or crew members. The aircraft taxied to the gate as normal.
British Airways’ maintenance teams are inspecting the aircraft to identify the cause of the loud noise and vibration. The pilots recorded video documentation of the incident on a cockpit iPad to accompany a formal filing and help mechanical engineers.
What do you think caused the cabin door to make such a loud noise and intense vibration? Let us know in the comments.
