Exciting news for passengers based in the US and Canada as they have been given an opportunity to earn a prestigious status match from British Airways.
Everything You Need to Know About the Prestigious Status Match
A status match refers to a process where an airline, in this case, British Airways, offers a match of the same status or tier level the passenger already has with another airline. In other words, if the passenger holds a specific status with an Airline company, British Airways allows the passengers to have a similar status level without having to go through the “process” to earn it again.
“Passengers can match to Silver or Gold status in the program, unlocking oneworld Sapphire or oneworld Emerald perks“, explained British Airways.
British Airways provided the necessary information for those who desire to be part of this fantastic offer: In the first place, the passenger must Join the Executive Club if they still need to become a member. The registration is free but must be completed by May 7, 2024. Then, the next step is for passengers to upload proof of status in a Frequent Flyer program with one of the British Airways selected airlines and wait for the application review to confirm eligibility in around 5 business days. British Airways will send an email and an upgraded digital membership card for 6 months of silver or gold membership if approved.

The Benefits of Silver and Gold Membership
How to keep the Silver or Gold membership after 6 months
If the passengers wish to keep the silver and gold membership, they must book and travel on two qualifying transatlantic flights within six months of the date of the British Airways upgrade. These flights have to be British Airways-marked flights in Club World or First. To be eligible to qualify, the flights must be operated by British Airways, American Airlines, Iberia, or Finnair; additionally, the passengers must originate from the US, Mexico, or Canada and be suitable to earn Tier Points and collect Avios.
After the passenger’s trip’s return, British Airways aims to extend the passenger upgraded membership once to the end of the next membership year, according to British Airways. On the other hand, if the passenger fails to meet the required terms within six months, the membership is automatically downgraded to the Tier that matches the number of Tier Points earned during the period.
