Royal Bhutan Airlines is on the brink of an aviation revolution  powered by Vietjet and Drukair’s vigorous Airbus agreement. More particularly, It has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Airbus to acquire three A320neo and two A321XLR aircraft. They are also scheduled to operate by 2030. This bold agreement will enhance Drukair’s global connectivity from both Paro International Airport and the Gelephu Mindfulness City Airport. His Majesty Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck  aims to make GMC Bhutan’s cutting-edge economic center.  Similarly, Vietjet Chairwoman Dr. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao stated below:

“The new A330neo aircraft strategically enhance Vietjet’s fleet development, boosting the airline’s operational capacity to support its global expansion. The introduction of advanced, fuel-efficient A330neo aircraft into Vietjet’s fleet is part of our sustainable development strategy and ESG goals, aiming for Net-Zero emissions by 2050. Passengers will soon enjoy safer, more comfortable, and modern long-haul flights. Airbus planes have enabled Vietjet to bring cost-effective flying opportunities to over 200 million passengers, including many first-time flyers, connecting people, nations, and continents, promoting economic development and cultural exchange.”

Environmental and sustainable effects

The A330neo and A321XLR aircrafts offer innovative solutions on the future of the aviation industry. They will  rely on reduced fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and noise pollution. More particularly, they are designed to run on up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) striving for an exclusive SAF conformity by 2030. Drukair’s contribution to sustainability and innovation sets high standards for the aviation industry.

In total, as Drukair expands its network with Vietjet, adopting pioneering sustainable strategies increases the competition in the aviation sector. Thus, the wider  flight industry faces new challenges. So, the question that occurs is the following:  How will other airlines respond to Drukair’s unstoppable expansion  and adjust to the new era of connectivity and sustainability?
