Tirana International Airport, located in Albania, has experienced a rise in the number of passengers in 2023, reaching the Airport record of 7.26 million passengers. With goals to expand Albania’s tourism growth, the Airport is confident and ambitious about 2024, working closely with Ryanair’s collaboration to achieve 8.4 million passengers this year.
Ryanair’s New routes for 2024 to bring new opportunities for Tirana Airport
In the summer of 2024, Ryanair is set to have a total of 22 routes to the Albanian Capital, Tirana, including new routes to Bari, Budapest, Vienna, Marseille, and also to cities in the United Kingdom: Birmingham, and Bristol, hoping to expand the United Kingdom’s passenger numbers; currently over half a million. Conversely, Italy is the dominant destination, with over 3.1million passengers traveling to and from Tirana Airport.
The collaboration with Ryanair is poised to bring numerous benefits for both tourism and the local economy, with partnership features introducing budget-friendly fares on Ryanair flights, starting as low as 15 euros each way, facilitating accessibility for everyone to have the opportunity to afford traveling to beautiful destinations. Another important aspect of Ryanair collaboration is its commitment to improving employment opportunities for locals, aiming to generate 1000 local jobs with plans to establish a Ryanair base in Tirana.
Michael O’Leary, Ryanair Group CEO, highlights his enthusiasm:
“We have big plans, and as we discuss them with the Kastrati Group, we want to open a Ryanair base in Tirana. This initiative will generate more job opportunities within the country.”
Ryanair’s expansion plans set to expand Albanian tourism growth
In a statement, Tirana International Airport shared its delight to collaborate with Ryanair, with the extensive 17 total routes to and from Albania this winter, with connectivity to other tourist destinations such as France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Poland, the UK, and Sweden.
