Icelandair and Emirates have recently announced their agreement and collaboration in a new strategic partnership; the MoU Codeshare Agreement mark new possibilities for both airlines, bringing new benefits for travellers.
Emirates and Icelandair with a Markable Codeshare Partnership
In Berlin on March 7th, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was agreed upon and signed by Emirates and Icelandair, aiming to assemble a codeshare partnership, providing seamless flight connections and improving the efficiency of air and rail tickets.
With the Emirates and Icelandair partnership, the airlines are introducing shared flights, and travellers can connect more easily to journeys in Europe, the Middle East, or Asia, booking flights with Emirates while enjoying Icelandair’s destination services.
According to Emirates, customers’ benefits will be marked starting with single-ticket travel with competitive fares and one-stop luggage check-in to diverse destinations once the codeshare is fully activated.
Bogi Nils Bogason, the Icelandair president and CEO, highlighted the importance of the partnership with Emirates, mentioning Emirates becoming Icelandair’s 7th global airline codeshare partner.
Among Emirates, Icelandair codeshare partners are Turkish Airlines, airBaltic, Alaska Airlines, Finnair, JetBlue Airways, and Scandinavian Partners.
“We are happy to announce our upcoming strategic partnership with Emirates, aiming to open new opportunities for our customers across the Middle East and Asia. We have and will continue expanding our partner airline network, focusing on working with airlines that offer great service and connectivity. We welcome Emirates as a partner and look forward to working with them to make our passengers’ journeys smooth and enjoyable.” explained Bogi Bogason
A Journey Full of Possibilities for Emirates with MoU with GO7
Additionally, Emirates has announced the integration of go7– ticketing specialists to introduce interline and rail tickets to destinations via Emirates. Outside the “usual” booking systems, the Emirates partnership with go7 will benefit travellers with more options for booking flights and train tickets.
Peer Winter, Chief Distribution Officer of GO7, expressed his enthusiasm for signing the MoU with Emirates:
“We are happy to sign this MoU with Emirates and build our successful history together. Emirates offers multimodal network connections through the GDS, including Rail & Fly via W2 by GO7. Furthermore, our new agreement takes it further. This partnership aims to provide a holistic approach to Airline Distribution for Emirates, allowing them to strengthen their offering across their direct channels. Passengers will be able to complete their journeys seamlessly with multiple airlines and rail operators with a single ticket, skipping traditional industry channels”
Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates Airline, Adnan Kazim, additionally stated his enthusiasm for collaboration with Icelandair and Go7, hoping that the partnership simplifies travellers’ journeys and helps to provide a wider choice for Emirates customers to explore Europe:
“We believe that these partnerships will bring real benefits to our customers and business, and we’re taking positive steps towards strengthening our relationships in the future.”
