The World Travel Awards (WTAs) announced their contest winners a few days ago at their luxury 32nd Grand Final Gala Ceremony held in Bahrain. The luxury event to celebrate Star Alliance’s global record for World’s Leading Airline Alliance across six years in a row.

This is supposedly the first of many accolades for the organization’s recognised service within the aviation industry since their establishment in 1997, as earlier this year they coveted the title of ‘North America’s Leading Airport Lounge’ – based in their Los Angeles branch.

Which Airlines are Affiliated with Star Alliance?

Star Alliance is made up of several existing airlines from across the world in over 190 countries such as Air New Zealand, Turkish Airlines, and Lufthansa, ensuring a partnership in the East and the West.

Who Decides, Who Wins?

The results were calculated through an online public poll with several registered members such as professional executives of the aviation, tourism, and hospitality industries, as well as general consumers. After the votes were in and counted it seems as if Star Alliance’s winning streak would not be broken anytime soon!

The CEO, Theo Panagiotoulias, relayed his enthusiasm in a statement:

“We are truly honoured to be named the World’s Leading Airline Alliance once again, especially knowing it reflects the trust of travellers and industry peers. Our focus has always been on making customer journeys feel effortless, and our lounges bring the experience to life. This recognition belongs to the teams across member airlines and the Alliance headquarters who make that possible every day, and we’re deeply grateful to our customers for their continued support.”

Further praise was echoed by the WTA’s founder, Graham Cooke, who said:

“This award reflects its unparalleled focus on delivering seamless, world-class travel experiences. The commitment and professionalism of the Star Alliance team continue to set new industry benchmarks.”

One can only hope that it is a bright future for Star Alliance’s commitment to service in the travel industry. Perhaps, if all goes according to plan, they can bag a seventh year success rate at the WTA Gala Ceremony, to add to their list of growing achievements.
