Royal Air Maroc Cargo has launched a new direct cargo service between Casablanca (CMN) and Los Angeles (LAX), creating the only direct air cargo link between Africa and the U.S. West Coast operated by an African carrier. The service launched on June 7, 2026, and operates three times a week using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft with belly cargo capacity. The new route expands Royal Air Maroc Cargo’s transatlantic network while strengthening Casablanca’s role as an international cargo hub.
New Cargo Link Connects Africa and the U.S. West Coast
The Casablanca–Los Angeles service provides access to the large Southern California consumer market and strengthens connections between Morocco, other African markets and the United States.
Royal Air Maroc Cargo expects the route to carry a range of commodities, including artisan products, textiles and perishables from Morocco and other African markets. Shipments travelling from China and wider Asia to the United States can also use the airline’s network, including electronics, e-commerce goods and industrial products.
The new service builds on the already existing Casablanca–Beijing (PKX) route, which launched in early 2025. Together, the routes connect Los Angeles (LAX), Casablanca (CMN) and Beijing (PKX), creating a cargo corridor linking markets across North America, Africa and Asia.
Royal Air Maroc Expands Global Cargo Network
The new Los Angeles service strengthens its presence in North America, which is one of the carrier’s key cargo markets. It also provides additional connectivity for Africa–U.S. West Coast and Africa–Asia trade flows.
The vice president cargo at Royal Air Maroc, Rita Chraibi, said:
“The launch of this Los Angeles service marks a significant milestone in our strategy to connect key international markets via our hub in Casablanca.”
According to the airline, the new route will provide cargo customers with additional routing options and access to markets across its African and Asian network.
The Casablanca–Los Angeles service will give freight customers an additional connection between Africa and the U.S. West Coast.
