Qatar Airways Partners with Hans Zimmer

Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer is best known for his transcendent film scores, often bringing about great emotions as they accompany moving scenes on screen. Amongst his famed works are the soundtracks for The Lion King, Interstellar, and Dune. Now, Hans Zimmer’s next project will be to carefully create a signature sound for Qatar Airways.

This endeavour seeks to produce a full musical album that will help to promote Qatar Airways, as part of the airline’s aim to establish their own unique brand. Furthermore, the score seeks to elevate the passenger experience, both on-board and beyond.

Badr Mohammed Al Meer, Chief Executive Officer at Qatar Airways Group, has said:

“At Qatar Airways, we aim to inspire the world with every new horizon and music plays a powerful role in shaping the emotional journey of our passengers, both in the air and on the ground. We are thrilled to partner with Hans Zimmer to compose our new signature music, exclusively for Qatar Airways. This bespoke soundscape will be more than just music; it will be a reflection of our brand’s elegance and ambition. Our partnership with Hans Zimmer marks a bold new chapter in the Qatar Airways experience, one that deepens the emotional connection with our passengers and enhances every moment of their journey.”

Hans Zimmer has also commented on this partnership:

“It’s an honour to collaborate with Qatar Airways on this visionary project. Together, we’re crafting a sonic experience that reflects the beauty of travel and the pioneering spirit that defines this world-class airline.”

Travel Music and Passenger Experience

Alongside evolving the airline’s brand identity, the new album seeks to delve into the ambient music genre that simultaneously encompasses the passenger journey and encourages a calm atmosphere. Hans Zimmer is following the likes of Jordan Rakei, who recently produced Music for Heathrow that uses sounds from around the airport to portray both the bustle and the excitement of travel. Jordan Rakei’s album not only captures the hubbub of London Heathrow Airport (LHR), but also soothes nervous flyers – in a homage to Brian Eno, who first created the ambient music genre.

This collaboration between Qatar Airways and Hans Zimmer has yet to announce an official release date.  However, it is known that Hans Zimmer’s score is set to feature across Qatar Airways’ on-board music, with the full album being released on major streaming platforms and the airline’s official channels.

What do you think about Qatar Airways and Hans Zimmer’s partnership? Will you be checking out the album when it releases? Let us know.
