Qatar Airways’ 2026 global schedule has continued expanding into some interesting international routes with a mix of eight new additions and resumptions that further boost the Doha-based carrier’s connectivity to parts of Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, the Middle East and South America as the airline continues rebuilding and expanding its international network following the initial impact of the Iran war in early 2026.
Four new international routes and four resumptions have strengthened the airline’s network in new markets, from short-haul flights on Airbus A320 aircraft to long-haul travel on Boeing 777-200LR or Airbus A350-900 planes. Qatar Airways offers international connectivity via Hamad International Airport, its primary hub for global operations.

The Eight Routes
Hail, Saudi Arabia, joined the airline in January with three weekly scheduled services using Airbus A320ceo aircraft, followed by Port Sudan in July with three weekly services on the same aircraft type.
Alexandria, Egypt, also joined the airline’s expanded schedule in September with two weekly services, the first on an Airbus A320ceo aircraft. The route is set to expand to daily operations from July 2027, offering passengers more frequent connections to Doha, Qatar Airways’ hub.
Qatar Airways also recently resumed service to Philadelphia from Doha in August. The carrier last served Philadelphia in 2022. Qatar Airways’ Doha–Philadelphia route resumes after American Airlines left the route. The Doha–Philadelphia service now operates daily with an Airbus A350-900.
Qatar Airways also resumed air service to Helsinki, Finland, and Tokyo Haneda, Japan, from July 15, 2026, as part of its current international network expansion. The Helsinki services will initially operate four times a week, with plans to expand to daily operations from Aug. 1 using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.
In July, the oneworld Alliance member resumed service to Tokyo Haneda to complement its Tokyo Narita services. The airline previously operated the Tokyo Haneda route until 2024, when oneworld partner Japan Airlines took over flights on its behalf. Both Qatar Airways and Japan Airlines now operate the route, though Japan Airlines operates the service only during the winter season. The new Doha-Tokyo Haneda service, flight QR812, departs Doha at 7:50 a.m. and arrives in Tokyo at 12:05 a.m.
As the airline resumes its Helsinki and Tokyo Haneda services, Bogotá and Caracas are two new locations joining Qatar Airways’ global network. Both new locations are set to go live in November 2026 on Wednesdays and Sundays with Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.

The Bigger Picture
The airline has framed its 2026 schedule as the next phase of its ongoing recovery and network expansion. Qatar Airways resumed safe operations in March 2026 and progressively reinstated intercontinental connectivity to restore service to 26 locations in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Americas as part of its broader network restoration.
According to the airline’s Cirium-verified schedule submissions, Qatar Airways plans to operate passenger flights to 181 airports worldwide for the rest of 2026, and the airline said its latest network expansion brings its overall reach to more than 160 destinations worldwide.
The recent international network expansion includes new markets, while other routes previously operated were paused or moved to partner carriers. This approach offers air travellers more options when booking flights with Qatar Airways to destinations abroad, while further reinforcing the Doha hub as a significant aviation presence on the global stage.
Qatar Airways, voted World’s Best Airline by the Skytrax award in 2025 for the ninth consecutive time, resumed safe and secure air travel operations from March 2026 to more than 60 locations. The airline’s eight international route additions and resumptions in 2026 send a strong message from one of the most powerful carriers on the global aviation stage as it continues to reestablish its place on the map.
How do you think the route reform will affect the travel density?
