Canadian carrier Porter Airlines is launching a year-round service to New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA). The new route will be connecting Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA). Launching on May 1, the service will offer up to three daily round-trip flights, connecting the two popular transit hubs. The new development marks a strategic expansion of the airline’s presence in the competitive New York market.
Service Overview
The service will be operating from LaGuardia’s newly redeveloped Terminal B. Deploying Porter Airlines‘ new 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, the service will provide passengers with a premium travel experience. En-route amenities include full access to high-speed Wi-Fi, as well as a selection of premium snacks and alcoholic beverages. For passengers seeking additional comfort, PorterReserve fares also offer priority check-in, extra legroom seats, and ticketing flexibility.
Existing Presence in New York
The addition of the new flights to LaGuardia is complementing Porter Airlines’ existing operations at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Porter has had a strong presence in the New York-New Jersey market since 2008 with flights from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (YTZ) to Newark. In 2023, Porter showed a commitment to maintaining this presence by expanding its Newark service with additional flights to Ottawa International Airport (YOW). Now, with the addition of LaGuardia, the Canadian carrier’s combined routings will offer up to 15 daily roundtrips.
Vice President of Network Planning and Reporting at Porter Airlines, Andrew Pierce, emphasised the strategic importance of this new route, stating,
“We have built a strong passenger base over more than 15 years for those travelling between Canada and the New York metropolitan area. The addition of LaGuardia introduces a new dimension to our network, opening more options for existing customers and the ability to attract new ones within the busiest air service corridor connecting Canada and the U.S.”
